Diablo 3 Power Leveling Tip – Belial Runs For Solid XP/Hr

by Jassper of The Diablo 3 Leveling Guide

Belial runs are a good way to power level through 2-3 levels pretty quickly. In this tutorial, I’ll be showing you the run in normal mode on a level 27 witch doctor, though it will obviously work for any class in normal, nightmare or hell. In normal mode, the ideal level range is 26-29.

Belial isn’t as great of a location as some others throughout the course of the game but it’s the best location for these particular levels. Just don’t spend too much time there before moving on to other content or it’ll quickly become less effective than standard play-through XP.

Time Needed: 2:10-2:30 min
XP Earned: 1 Million/Hr
Difficulty: Easy
Gold Earned: Fair

Power Leveling With Belial Runs - Illustrated

1) Belial runs are fairly straight-forward. Select the quest in Act II, Chapter 10. You are started near the Gates of Caldeum.

2) Enter the gate with Leah’s help and run through the mobs as quickly as possible down the hallway. Try to kill as many as you can along the way without stopping.

3) You’ll need to kill the wizard protecting the force field gate at the end of the first corridor in order to continue on. This section is a good opportunity to kill everything that’s probably caught up with you by now.

4) Run to the right down another corridor, again passing through the mobs and using Leah to open the final gate, leading to Belial.

Power Leveling Tip: Try to put a bit of Bonus Gold/Globe radius on your gear so that you can pick up gold without running in circles or otherwise slowing down your power leveling.

5) Kill Belial, take his soul, complete the quest on his platform for 2325 XP and 290 gold on normal.

6) Teleport back to town and turn in the big quest to Tyrael for 8525 XP and 870 gold on normal.

7) Leave the game and rinse and repeat!

Do you have any details on how 1.0.3 changes power leveling?
The patch notes state that “rewards provided for replaying quests have been reduced”
Does this mean turning in a quest over and over results in lower xp reward/gold?

Based on some quick testing, it appears that both quests associated with Belial runs still reward the same amount of XP and gold. I will be testing out a variety of locations to check for decreased rewards but I’m actually thinking that this particular patch note was already implemented in a hotfix a week or two ago so we’ve already seen the XP and gold hit.

Yeah, how long will this change last? Forever?

It’s always hard to tell when/if Blizzard will modify the game, but for now this run continues to be a fairly good place to power level between levels 26 and 29.

Just curious, great vid on a WD taking down Belial, what build did you use to take him down SO FAST? I am SO frustrated at this point in that I can’t take hime down yet you cut right through him like swiss cheese! Thanks in advance!

Glad you liked the video! It was definitely a combination of purchasing some quality gear on AH for that level range and also the build I was using. Here is a link to the build:!ad!aaaaa

Basically, for this level range, you want to keep your Zombie Dogs and Gargantuan out at all times, use Spirit Walk with Jaunt to move around quickly and spam the heck out of Corpse Spiders with Leaping Spiders rune. It’s a very low effort, high dps way to play that works well for a little while, until the content starts to get a bit tougher ;)
