Welcome to the 3rd and final chapter of the Diablo 3 Wizard Leveling Build Guide. Part 2 of the Wizard Leveling Build covered some of the intermediate skills you should be using. In this chapter we will take a look at the final array of wizard skills and abilities that we’ll be using to round out our wizard leveling build.

Wizard Leveling Build: Levels 21-30

At this point, you’ve undoubtedly discovered that your enemies are getting a bit tougher to kill. Hopefully you’ve managed to stay out of harm’s way while still dishing out some big damage to them.

Below are my recommendations for the final skills to swap out and pick up for the best wizard leveling build in Diablo III:

Active Wizard Skill – Electrocute (Signature)

Continue using Electrocute throughout this level range but make sure to add the awesome new skill rune you gain access to. Which is…

Best Skill Rune - Chain Lightning

The Chain Lightning rune causes your attacks to arc to an additional 4 targets for a grand total of 6 enemies getting zapped each time you fire off Electrocute. This skill rune transforms Electrocute from a “pretty cool and useful” ability into a “good god I just demolished so many dudes at once” type of thing. Have fun with this one!

Active Wizard Skill – Disintegrate (Secondary)

Disintegrate will replace Ray of Frost at level 21. This skill is freaking awesome. You basically fire a ridiculously awesome-looking red laser in front of you that does 155% damage. The coolest part of this ability and what sets it apart from Ray of Frost is that it doesn’t just hit your target and only damage them. It passes through ALL targets in its path, dealing damage to everyone in its path. Coolest. Ability. Ever.

Best Skill Rune- Chaos Nexus

At level 30 you will gain access to the Chaos Nexus skill rune. This rune adds an AOE attack to Disintegrate that shoots blasts of arcane awesomeness out of your body at surrounding enemies in addition to the laser that fires straight ahead. These additional AOE beams do 40% damage to anything they hit. A pretty big DPS increase when you’re surrounded by enemies.

Active Wizard Skill – Teleport (Defensive)

What would a wizard be without teleport? It’s such a classic ability that it almost needs no introduction. This skill teleports you up to 35 yards from your current location and is great for escaping tricky situations or increasing your movement speed when traveling. Very handy.

Best Skill Rune- Safe Passage

Level 26 unlocks the Safe Passage rune. This run will cause you to take 30% less damage after using Teleport. The effect lasts for 4 seconds. Assuming that you’ll be using Teleport occasionally to get yourself out of a life-threatening situation, you may be low on health at the time. Safe Passage will reduce the chances that a stray attack will take you out as you make your escape. I prefer using Teleport to Diamond Skin, but it’s really a personal choice.

Active Wizard Skill – Blizzard (Force)

In place of Wave of Force, pick up Blizzard at level 27. Blizzard is a powerful AOE attack that deals 210% cold damage to all monsters in the area. You can target where you want the Blizzard effect to occur, which allows you to rain down deadly snow on enemies while remaining back at a safe distance. The attack itself last 6 seconds is a crucial skill to keep under your fingers while leveling.

Best Skill Rune- (None available for levels 21-30)

Active Wizard Skill – Archon (Mastery)

Archon is awesome. This skill is a shape-shifting like ability that turns you into a massive blob of arcane energy for 15 seconds. Your abilities are all replaced by new, Archon-style attacks, your resistances are increased by 40% and you look completely awesome while doing it. The cool thing about this skill is that for every enemy you kill, the duration of the ability is increased by 1 second. If you use this while mowing down a massive group of foes, you may be able to stay in this state for quite a while. Very cool.

Best Skill Rune- (None available for levels 21-30)

Passive Wizard Skill – Astral Presence

Astral Presence is available at level 24. This passive skill increases that rate at which you regenerate your Arcane Power by 2/second and also increases your total Arcane Power available by 20. More Arcane Power = more devastating attacks making this a good skill to have.

I can tell you from experience that I have seen many players use builds that others claimed to be “wrong” or “not ideal” and do exceptionally well with them. Ultimately, it comes down to how much fun you’re having…which typically encourages you to try harder, play better, and level faster.
